About

Check out the ‘Bone House’ in St. Michael’s Chapel, one of the most random tourist sites in Hallstatt. The chapel dates back to the 12th century and is located next to the catholic parish church. Each year, visitors from all over the world come to admire the unusual collection of over 1200 artistically painted skulls.

The last skull of the collection belongs to a lady who died in 1983 and requested to have her bones on display in the Charnel House as well.
