About

This is truly a beast. The Pororoca is the longest wave in the world and makes it's way up the Amazon river twice a year. During new and full moons, when the river is relatively less deep and the ocean tide is high, water flows in from the Atlantic, rather than the other way around. It travels for miles up stream and can reach 12ft/4m high.

Directions

Head to Sao Domingos do Capim. From here you will find local guides and other surfers that are heading out to the wave.

Things to Note & Policies

The wave is destructive and rips through everything in its path, watch out for debris. Plants, shrubs, and even whole trees are common obstacles when riding. Also you might wana check your fitness levels, the world record ride for this wave is a whopping 37 minutes.
